At Hamilton, we believe the arts are an integral part of a well-rounded education, nurturing confidence, creativity, self-expression and excellence. Hamilton recently had the privilege of hosting Eisteddfod, where learners from Hamilton and various schools showcased their skills across Speech, Drama, Song, Instrumental, Marimba and Choir. The dedication and preparation of our Hamilton learners was reflected in an outstanding set of results, with 34 awards going to Hamilton in total. This included 13 Diplomas – the highest level of excellence, 14 Gold awards, 6 Silver awards and 1 Bronze award. We were privileged to have Dr. Francois van den Berg and Hugo Taaljaard as our adjudicators, whose expertise and encouragement enriched the experience for our learners. Our sincere thanks go to our dedicated staff and supportive parents for the time, guidance and encouragement that helped our learners prepare and excel.
This month, Hamilton proudly celebrates 19 years of excellence, growth, and community. During a Founders Day special assembly, Hamilton founder, Magda Cullen, reflected on the beginnings of Hamilton, describing how the school started simply as “a conversation… and a friendship.” Her words reminded everyone that every great journey begins with a shared vision and the courage to believe in something bigger. As Hamilton celebrates a particularly significant year, welcoming its very first Matric class, Mrs Cullen highlighted just how far the school has come through the dedication and support of countless people over the years. Quoting the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” she beautifully captured the spirit of the Hamilton journey. Hamilton exists today because of every learner, parent, staff member, and supporter who has contributed to the growth and success of the school community in meaningful ways. The celebration also included a speech from Hamilton Principal, Bridget Painter, as well as a special performance by our Foundation Phase Choir. Cake was shared with all Hamilton learners and staff following the assembly, adding to the joyful atmosphere of the occasion. The event was further enriched by the attendance of Hamilton Board…
The Board and Management of Hamilton are elated to announce the appointment of Mrs. Dawn Naylor as our new Hamilton Head of School for 2027. More remarkably, the “Hamilton Magic” runs in her veins—her mother-in-law, Lyn Naylor, was a founding teacher of our beloved school. Mrs Dawn Naylor returns to us not just as a leader, but as a guardian of the legacy her family helped build. Dawn, joins the Hamilton Family from an International School where she serves as Executive Principal. Her professional pedigree is exceptional – She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a PGCE and has extensive experience across both IEB and Cambridge International systems. As a passionate Science and Mathematics specialist who still finds “magic” in the classroom teaching senior students it is a privilege to have her passion extend our students. Dawn leads with heart and believes every child deserves to be known, valued, and inspired. Beyond the boardroom, she brings a vibrant energy to our community as a former hockey coach and choir director who…
